Kunst Museum & Drachenburg Castle

Drachenburg Castle in Königswinter, GermanyFor the past few days we have been getting to know Bonn. The other day we had our AIB program orientation. We filled out student visa applications, had an official walk of Bonn, found our classroom buildings, university student center, and more. That night we had a BBQ mixer for all the students at AIB and the host families. My 14 student studio is at AIB with 41 students from LMU, California. It was nice to meat them (7 of them are in the dorms with me and Cat). After that, some of my studio went out for ice-cream (which is only 0,70€, about $1.00).

Today, in the morning, we went to the Kunst Museum of Modern Art. It is only 1 block from the dorms. I was not very impressed with the art. The only art I liked was very simple, my style. After lunch in a park, we decide to visit Drachenburg Castle. The castle is in a town called Königswinter, which is up in the mountains and only 7 minutes from Bonn on the subway system. After getting a little lost (having the train end, and walking back the the nearest subway stop to get on another train) we finally got to the town. To get to the castle you can pay and take a S-Bahn (above ground train) which goes up a mountain at a 25% grade. At the top we could see all around. We then went on a small hike, with allot of warning signs, to the castle grounds. From the walk we could see the castle peaking through trees. The grounds of the castle are amazing; old trees shade everything making a perfect climate. The interior was decorated just like a fairytale.

Tomorrow is my Rhine River cruise.
